Oh well... 3 days/2 nights is definitely too short a time to really experience Boracay. I've been here 4 times, but still, there's so much to do! Louie and I didn't feel the need to pursue any other activities except for swimming, walking along the beach, food tripping, shopping, sleeping, drinking(?) and getting daily massages. Hahaha, yep, if only life could be so relaxing all the time. :)
We stayed at Boracay Beach Club in Station 1 (near Cocomangas and across Club Paraw). It's not a beach front resort, but the short walk across the street shouldn't be a deterrent. It's a cozy, classy hotel that offered great service. If I'm going back to Boracay, I'll definitely consider staying here again.
So on our first day, we headed out for lunch and it was scorching hot! We ate lunch at Gasthof (ribs, yum!) and decided to go back to the hotel because it was too damn hot... hehe, got a migraine because of it. So we decided to come back out once the sun was out. But first, a preview of the beach :P
After a short siesta, we went out again and enjoyed the cool waters of Boracay. No pics, coz none of us have waterproof cameras...yet, hehehe. Anyway, after freshening up, we took a walk along the beach again, and photographed the sunset... well, we didn't really stay until the sun actually set, but, I still think it's a nice pic.
And I couldn't resist putting this pic here... coz I just think it's cool. :) Louie's the one with the peace sign.
And of course... while in Bora, why not don some henna tattoos or funky braids? Although in my experience...braids are really just for practical reasons (so that my hair won't fall all over my face), and only to be worn for a short period of time. Be careful with braids though... last time I had them, I sunburned my scalp! Honest! So this time, I stayed away from the sun and removed the braids before I went to bed (no matter how dizzy I was, but that's another story). The braids pic was taken at Aria. Just had to mention this resto if you're looking for really good Italian cuisine by the beach, located at D'Mall, station 2.
Lastly...Louie's favorite? Hahaha... cocktail time! On the first night, we had cocktails at Club Paraw, enjoying the sounds of the acoustic singer. We were the only people in the bar, hahaha! I guess that's why it's called an off-peak season. I had the grasshopper (wanted to see the grasshopper effect). It was a very creamy, minty drink, like liquid mentos. Refreshing even. :P
Next day, we decided to chill at Ariel's House after our massage. And the bartender suggested I try this Illusion cocktail. Fine, I didn't really have any drink in mind. So I tried it. And it was STRONG. I mean, really... the blur in the picture below would probably be a good indication of what I was feeling after (barely finishing) this drink. And the bartender even added some more juice to it because he admitted it was pretty strong (when I obviously couldn't order any other cocktail aside from this one.)
And look how happy we were before the drinks came =)). But it was still a fun (but short) night. Louie finished this great looking shooter called the Lamborghini., as well as a Harry Wallbanger (parang juice lang) and this other cocktail I was too dazed to remember. I will definitely try the Lamborghini next time. No more Illusion for me, that's for sure!
On our last day, we woke up at 6 to have breakfast at Jonas' fruitshakes (open 24 hours!). I recommended the place to Louie and she loved the Mango Lemon. Me, I usually go for the Banana Choco Peanut. This pic was taken at around 730am, notice the water slowly rising up. It gets up to the very edge of the establishment by 10am, and starts to subside by noon. So, there really isn't much shore around by that time, at least near Station 1.
After breakfast, we heard the 8am mass. It's funny, whenever we asked the locals what language the mass would be in, they couldn't really answer. And when we attended the mass, we understood what it meant when they said 'Kasi ho, mixed siya e...' Hahaha! The mass was a mix of Bisaya, English and Tagalog. I think it started out in Tagalog, then Papuri sa Diyos was sung in Bisaya, then the readings and the Gospel were (if I remember correctly) in Bisaya. The Homily was in Taglish...you get the idea. But the priest, was really really good, and was able to convey his message even with the plethora of languages and dialects being spoken during the Mass.
And then we headed back to our hotel for a final massage (yup, 3 days, 3 massages... what more could I ask for?) Then, had room service for lunch, and all too soon, we were homeward bound *sigh*. It was a very relaxing vacation... I wish it was much longer though. Took these final two pics while on the Fastcraft on the way to Caticlan.
But wait! There's more! Our relaxing, stress-relieving vacation took a stressful and downright terrifying turn on the way back to Manila. It was only just a 50 minute plane ride, but the last 15 minutes were rocked by strong turbulence, strong rains, strong winds and lightning flashes. That's right, it was raining HARD in Manila. And it was sooo dark! It was only about 6PM, but it looked like it was 8. It was the first time I ever really entertained the possibility of a plane crash (yes it was that harrowing for me). And when we finally landed 15 minutes later at NAIA, the applause for the pilot was the most meaningful I've ever given in my life. You can't imagine how thankful I was we took the bigger planes from Kalibo, and how thankful I was that we flew PAL (known for their smooth landings).
But Louie and I made it back in one piece...still wish we spent a longer time, next time. Right now, I can't wait for my next travel...Palawan in December with Maitz and my aunts! :)
