Busy Weekend

2 days have already gone on this 3-day weekend...and it's been a pretty busy one for me. :) On Saturday, I had my regular blood check (to monitor my TSH), had breakfast at Starbucks (got my planner yay!), had my contacts cleaned at Makati Med, then in the afternoon, I watched Hairspray with mom. Then, we went to mass.

Hairspray, as a whole was a fun play to watch. But I do have a lot of caveats. First of all, I didn't like the theater, it was too cold, and smelled dusty, I don't know if you know what I mean, but I get allergic from too much dust, and I was feeling allergic by the end of the show, so I'm assuming the theater was the cause. Then, it started a few minutes late and not only that, even after the theater doors closed, people kept coming in! I mean, come on! I would never expect this kind of thing to happen at the CCP. And last, the lights...I just didn't like the lights, there was one time we had this beam shining straight at us!

Oh well... but all these caveats didn't matter. The cast was great! I loved them! Nyoy Volante was an unexpected surprise... he danced so well and played Seaweed perfectly. Penny (I don't know her name) was a laugh trip, Michael de Mesa was great as Tracy's mom, Dulce was awesome as always (although some of her lines made her appear kinda 'high'). And Madel Ching (playing Tracy) was sooo energetic! I loved her. I'm sure with a few more years in theater, she's going to be absolutely awesome.

And then today, we went to Glorietta and watched Twilight! Of course I have already set my expectations (to a very low level) and I was really pleased with the film. :P And I actually think the next books (New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn) will be better on film. So, I'm excited about that.

Tomorrow, Tere and I will go back to the mall for some facials and shopping, then we'll have dinner at Mandarin Hotel to celebrate my parents' 29th anniversary. :)

Whew... it's been a hectic 3 day weekend, I feel like I didn't even get a chance to rest at all! But I guess that's what the holidays are about right? Everyone gets busy. :)

Twenty five days to go until Christmas! :D

Half Blood Prince Trailer#3

It sucks that I have to wait until July of next year for this! But I just know it's going to be awesome! Can't wait!

Wii Unboxing...Wheee!!!!

OMG... I finally bought the mother of all game consoles...a Nintendo Wii, complete with Wii Sports, an extra controller and nunchuck, 10 games and of course... a DDR dance pad, which as I'm sure my college friends can attest to, is something I'm 'very' fond of.

Anyway, we tested the Wii Sports and had fun playing tennis, bowling, some golf and boxing. I kicked ass in tennis, but got my ass kicked in boxing by both Tere and Sweet. Grrr... I wonder how Maitz will fare with this game when she comes home for Christmas. I bet she'll suck, hahahaha!

Tomorrow, I'll try the Dance Dance Revolution..and I'm sure, an inevitable addiction will develop. Anyway, unboxing pics below. :)

In retrospect...

Finally, I've closed an issue that took me several days (and a few nights of troubled sleep) to investigate...

You might think I exaggerate when I say I have trouble sleeping... but I don't. I get that way when there's something I can't finish, I obsessively think about it until I start dreaming about it. I kid you not, thesis issues were resolved because of this 'gift'.

But anyway, it's been a while since I did actual support work... but of course, this was my bread and butter back at the Sunny company. And this SIR made me feel the same frustrations I once had when I was still in Production support... and then when I actually figured out the cause... I felt the same rush of endorphins that I used to feel when closing a difficult request or identifying why my GL was unbalanced or fixing a batch problem at 3 in the morning.

Although I'm not saying I actually want to be back in support... it just makes me think... dev or support, both have their pros and cons. Back when I was in support, I talked with a lot of people, had great working relationships with my users, and learned different tips and techniques from other developers' codes, but there was always the stress, the urgency of things and the frustration of figuring out what went wrong that can take its toll on a person. In dev, I speak to fewer people, but at least I can schedule what needs to be done, and I can have my own approach to development, but it also gets tiring and stressful when deadlines approach and you still haven't figured out how to code a particular functionality or if you're not getting the expected result during testing.

I don't really have a point to make, I just noticed I haven't been updating my blog...so I just started typing the thoughts off the top of my head. All I know is, whatever I do, dev or support, everything is bound to end sometime... like the song in Avenue Q, 'Everything in life is only for now.' :)

Lapit na mag-Pasko...can't wait. :D
